I would say you are describing fanboys. Mint fanboys, Nemo fanboys, Gnome fanboys, "my software of choice is better than yours" fanboys and generally speaking "my dad is stronger than yours" fanboys ...

Can we please stop telling people to use "apt-get" when simply "apt" accomplishes the same thing?

Even when keeping in mind What is the difference between apt and apt-get? there is still no logical reason to enforce using apt over apt-get/apt-cache. An extra second or two to type 4-6 extra ...
