I read the FAQ page and the About page, but no links to any help topics about the mechanics of using the site.

When I post a comment, can I used formatting? Where is the format or markdown help?

Okay, when I actually ask a question I get the formatting help sidebar on the right, with a link to the formatting reference https://askubuntu.com/editing-help, but I do not get that link when I'm writing a comment.

Agreed. I did think about putting it there. I'm still new to actually contributing to stackexchange sites. Can I move it to the meta side? – mp3foley Jul 28 '10 at 21:14
  • @mp3: It'll get moved there automatically after it gets 5 close votes. – Nathan Osman Jul 28 '10 at 21:26
  • This should have been closed as "belongs on meta"? – Ross Jul 28 '10 at 23:28
  • Thanks for moving it to meta. I do not have the reputation yet to ask the question on meta. (Haven't had time to spend on here yet.) – mp3foley Jul 30 '10 at 3:29
  • @mp3foley: I do not think you need any reputation to ask a question on meta. – txwikinger Aug 6 '10 at 12:48

The markdown editing help link (question mark) is above the "Your Answer" box. Here is also the link.

You must log in to answer this question.
