While doing a php tag dive a little over a week ago, I flagged a handful of posts which I thought should be closed. At this point, 1 has been closed, and of the remaining 4 which remain open, 2 have aged away and 2 were deemed helpful.
I have done all I can on these pages. With so few trust points (123 so far), I can't see the close vote count and I am not even able to downvote to help closed pages to be deleted by the system. I would like to ask for assistance from other volunteers on these pages to progress the status of pages that should be rightfully closed and/or potentially deleted.
10 Apr: Needs details or clarity - Aged away - Unable to insert in table in database in mysql using php
10 Apr: Needs details or clairty - Aged away - mysql command changed to mysqli command after update is not working
10 Apr: Not suitable for this site - Pending PHP mysql - I can not get affected_row to work 1 There is nothing to fix and no value to Ubuntu researchers; this page can easily be purged from the system.
10 Apr: Needs details or clarity - Helpful - Php INSERT INTO query doesn't work in lamp server This has been successfully closed, but may need a human touch to purge the page -- it looks abandoned.
10 Apr: Not suitable for this site - Helpful - Unable to update 'datetime' with the current time in mysql I cannot see if there are any close votes, but the page remains open. I think it should be migrated/closed.
In addition to running through php pages, I've gone for a swim in the regex tag pool too.
I have flagged a couple more that remain open:
10 Apr: Not suitable for this site - Helpful - Exclude match if there is word between two patterns
9 Apr: Not suitable for this site - Helpful - Regex for IP addresses
"Aged away" flags break my heart; what a shame when volunteer contributions simply fall flat without being considered.
Why are the Helpful flags not resulting in a closure? Maybe these have a vote or two and are still in limbo, but I can't see this progress.
I am new here (obviously) so I don't yet know the local culture. Are the review queues being regularly attended by volunteers here? Is this community overly concerned about the negative impact of a page closure upon the psyche of question posters? (if so, I understand.)
I don't mean to command the closure of these pages. I am just asking others to consider honestly reviewing these pages and if they agree with my flag, please support it for the betterment of the community.
