The Mod comment was: I can appreciate that you have put a great deal of effort into this post, however on a question and answer site such as Ask Ubuntu the place where your comments have appeared is reserved for answers only... This is my comment and I deleted the answer after placing this comment as I believed that your answer did not directly answer the question (Not An Answer) and was also far too long to convert to a comment. My apologies for upsetting you, that was never my intent, but I still believe it was a fair call. But the joy of Meta is that now the Community can comment....

Let's talk about the Ubuntu Code of Conduct in Ask Ubuntu!
Before I retired I was involved in putting a similar document together for the organisation I worked in. I am grateful to have one here 'ready made' as my experience creating one taught me that it is a lot of thankless work and you cannot make everybody happy with the end product. Is there anything special about the Ubuntu COC? I look at it a little differently than that: I look on it more as a guide and a tool and for those purposes it works well.

In my perfect world everybody would be kind to each other and there would be no need for such a thing as a Code of Conduct in any shape or form. However the world has not reached such a state and the Ubuntu Code of Conduct, which I have signed and will continue to personally uphold, is a great tool to help in maintaining the peace.

"Errors on boot" duplicate questions
Well, I wouldn't say I have improved the answer but I have improved the formatting a little to enhance readability. Rinzewind's answer is quite specific to the question as it mentions Trusted Platform Module so this would perhaps be lost in another question if merged?

This one comes closer to a decent answer: askubuntu.com/q/1333069/57576 and perhaps might be the base answer? With these acpi warnings there seem to be 3 choices: 1. Update bios, potentially lethal if done incorrectly and no guarantee to stop errors. 2. Disable acpi in grub, errors stop but so do a lot of things. 3. Ignore these warnings as benign and praise the diligence of Linux as opposed to the sloppiness of bios developers 🙂.

I am wondering in the interests of getting some resolution we might be better to simply make the second question the canonical question and mark 1 and 3 as Duplicates? Not a great measure of usefulness perhaps but I see the view counts of these questions as: 1. 398 views 2. 3k views 3. 221 views.

Is a question about third party software on topic if there is no reference to Ubuntu?
It is a dream of mine that Ask Ubuntu would be a question and answer site that searched for reasons to keep a question open rather than search so enthusiastically for reasons to close a question...

Fascinating script disaster you have referenced! The change introduced all the way back in 2011 was: rm -rf /usr /lib/nvidia-current/xorg/xorg whereas it should have been rm -rf /usr/lib/nvidia-current/xorg/xorg. One space that should not have been there...
