Are Ubuntu Pro support questions off-topic?
7 day lock on the AU question while this issue is being discussed...

Questions about Ubuntu 18, 20, 22 that *really* intend 18.04, 20.04, 22.04
And a side comment to the 'unkind' flags: the system monitors these flags and will create a mod flag showing number of unkind flags generated by a user over a certain period of time. This is a great monitoring tool for mods to pick up a pattern of unkindness over time for any user. And then act appropriately.

How to find posts I had flagged?
'Mouseover' gives a few extra hints as well...

@ArchismanPanigrahi I try always to see the best in people and I think some users don't realise how hostile and aggressive a terse demand for a correct version number can appear, particularly to a new user of Ask Ubuntu. There is always room for a kinder approach...

Are new users properly introduced to the site when signing up?
Perhaps some here will remember Usenet's Eternal September, I see some parallels...

Should we be concerned with prolific downvoters?
@NotTheDr01ds It is an SE preference for public chat rooms in general...

Should we be concerned with prolific downvoters?
@NotTheDr01ds A private chat room is a Mod option and is used for moderation purposes. So either created as such by a Mod or converted to private if created by a user without that privilege.

Should we be concerned with prolific downvoters?
@Nmath Indeed, there is no place on Meta for naming particular users. For elected Mod attention there is a custom flag, as Muru has mentioned, or a private chat room; whichever is easiest...

Should we be concerned with prolific downvoters?
Well, downvoting serves a very specific purpose: to indicate that a particular question or answer is not useful: askubuntu.com/help/privileges/vote-down However if downvoting is used inappropriately (targeted downvoting, spiteful downvoting, angry-person downvoting etc) there can be a need for Mod intervention. And the issue of ' derisory comments' should also be addressed: such comments have no place on AU. Btw your excellent post uses the term 'censor', I am wondering if you actually mean 'censure'?

Marking outdated posts/info etc. to be archived
@Levente I see it at: Mod --> Lock --> Obsolete. The blurb that comes with it says: 'This post is marked obsolete because the content is out of date. It is not currently accepting new interactions.'

Please block the [help] tag on AU Meta
Thanks for looking at this, I will keep an eye out for any return of this tag...

Should we pay more attention to self-answered questions when considering flagging them as duplicates?
In my pre-mod days self answered questions were often my favourite interaction with AU and I retain a soft spot for them. I am not convinced that they are particularly targeted for moderation by either community or elected moderators?

Can we have a tag for scientific-computing?
It is always good to have a discussion on Meta on such issues but the ability to create new tags, and then subsequently populate this tag throughout Ask Ubuntu, is granted after 300 Rep points: askubuntu.com/help/privileges/create-tags. But it will be interesting nevertheless to see what the Community thinks of this particular tag proposition...
