EOL Notice: Raring (13.04) is now past End of Life
So a user still using 13.04 after Jan 27 is out of luck even if all they want is to ask a question? I suggest that after the magic date valid questions are still valid even if Canonical is no longer supporting the release?

I find it ironic that the "ad" for Dennis Ritchie is by far the most popular "ad" on Unix&Linux meta, but earns a negative vote here! The difference in outlook between the two communities, which I still valiantly think of as related if not mirror images, astounds me!

@Mateo Ken Thompson, the father of Unix. We would not be using Ubuntu if he had not written AT&T Unix in 1970!

@Mateo Image size fixed. I am surprised that the father of all Unix systems, including indirectly Linux, is not more popular here.

There is no Shell Tag?
Thank you. I did not realize that tag was so popular on Unix&Linux. I do agree with you that while it maybe less popular here than on Unix&Linux, there really is a role for a distinct and separate shell tag right here on AskUbuntu. It maybe a good idea to emphasize this also in your answer similar to your comment on the other answer below. I do use Unix&Linux also, but that is not by itself a reason for dumbing down AskUbuntu. I continue to argue for a separate, distinct shell tag.

Could we get rid of all unuseful tags? (Tags that alone can't be)
On the other hand there is no "shell" tag and apparently no need for it! meta.askubuntu.com/questions/5486/there-is-no-shell-tag

Questions about the obsolete versions
It is not broken! Besides, I am not root on that server!

Questions about the obsolete versions
Keep the old data. It is definitely relevant. Not everyone is running 13.10. I do ssh to a server still happily running 8.04, and run 10.04 and 12.04 on some of my machines.

Questions about the obsolete versions
I am using Ubuntu 13.10, 13.04, 12.04 and 10.4 on different machines and ssh to a server that still runs 8.04 server. So any info on 8.04 is suddenly irrelevant?? I hope not! Keep the old info. You can edit it to say that is relevant only to a particular version but definitely keep it.
