What can be done to remove obsolete answers?
Those last 2 examples are duplicates because either the respective questions or answers apply in both cases (or are the same altogether). I thought you were trying to prove that these "have nothing to do with the old question".

You said "often" and then posted a single example out of thousand of duplicates.

@Serg to be precise the OP also wants to remove XFCE but OK.

Thank you for the constructive exchange. Knowing a mod's reasoning in reviewing flags helps to cast better flags.

@terdon does it attempt to answer the question or does it attempt to answer a different question? :) That's a nice philosophical question that will make me wondering for a while. :D Nevertheless I am not trying to argue here, just wanted to clarify my view.

@Serg cleaning up a DE (+ default programs recommended by
*buntu-desktop
packages) to switch to another one is no easy task. See for instance here. The OP might very well know that you can install the Unity desktop on top, but they decided to reinstall instead. It's not our role to judge their choices. :P I agree one can add it as a final remark but the core question is "how do I create a bootable USB from Xubuntu?" which is a fine question and should require an answer that addresses the "how" part, not only the "possible alternatives" part.

What am I doing wrong?
@Zacharee1 agreed. There are even some users that take "please provide these additional details: [...]" as an offence or lack of consideration.

Ok thanks. I still believe the main question is where OP says "can't figure out how to make a bootable usb on Xubuntu" and "come on you don't need to do it" could be added as a comment or a remark at the end of an answer, but... well no problem.

Ubuntu Budgie is now an official flavour (starts properly with 17.04)!
Wow, this remix looks really nice. I might consider using something other than Unity as my default desktop since a very long time!

An appeal to low rep users!
@MarkKirby the episode I described before happened on Ask Ubuntu Meta. So technically "here". :) I just said on other sites like Stack Overflow it happens more often.

@MarkKirby one would hope at least OP will try a given solution, if they have a problem and are willing to get it solved. :)

@MarkKirby for what it is worth, I once encountered a diamond user here on meta who made it very clear about the fact he owned special powers, including locking comments after posting harsh statements (subsequently flagged and removed) just to prevent people from replying. Luckily the situation here on AU is way better than e.g. Stack Overflow so that was an isolated incident.

Clarification on GRUB's on-topic-ness
Tongue-in-cheek remark: you can pretty easily use Ubuntu with BURG or rEFInd as well. :P

I share the feeling of your post. I find myself often answering questions in the correct way (sometimes mine being the only answer) and not even the OP of a question bothers to upvote my answer. This is kinda annoying.
