Can we have a tag for scientific-computing?
Is there a reason those specific tags for specific flavors/etc of scientific computing stuff is insufficient? "scientific-computing" sounds like a meta-tag that should be more narrow with the tags you specify

@WilliamRichter When you sign up it explicitly says to refer to the Help Center for guidance on posting. It even says this on the "Ask a Question" screen or the "Post an Answer" screen before your answer is written. It explicitly says that an answer must be an answer, and if you've been reading the site for as long as you claim you'll have learned that 'link only' answers or answers that don't actually give any context or solutions themselves are deleted.

And you are done. Comments are locked on this thread due to excessive arguments and unnecessary rudeness towards the userbase by the OP. And the unnecessary ranting in comments as well indicates that comments have outserved their usefulness.

End of Life Notice: Ubuntu 21.10 (Impish Indri) reached End of Life on July 14, 2022
Day late to posting, but my Internet exploded Wednesday and I was still rebuilding it yesterday.

What do we do with these 5 questions about Software Center from today?
Which of those is the oldest? I'll dupe-close the others as a dupe of the original and post a canonical answer that "Currently, the Snapcraft team/sites are having a large number of firewall problems, and as such there are errors being returned. This is entirely on the Snapcraft backend admins to fix their issue, and there's nothing we can do about it for now."

An addendum here: people following the close vote reasons and policies are NOT bullies - the site follows policies for what is or isn't on topic, and close voters aren't bullies. Neither are moderators, who you're accusing of bullying because one of us closed your post originally as opinion based. The question since has been revised to a point it can be 'reopened' but keep in mind it's still likely to get questions of "Well, what about this or this which answer this question?" and dupe close votes still too. That's just the way the site works - don't repost duplicate posts, etc.

How can I ask this question without it being closed or being ridiculed for not being an Ubuntu guru?
'good answers' and 'reputation' don't go hand in hand. I reviewed the comments made on your post and I don't gather they were being rude or trolling. I agree the "he must want it to fail" part is harsh and will handle that, but all in all, flag those unproductive comments rather than deletion of your question. When you delete your question, if you delete enough of your own posts the system will penalize you behind the scenes, and do it enough you'll earn a block on posting that's system imposed.

Have you considered flagging those comments and remarks as non-productive or rude/abusive for moderator review if they're calling you names? Rather than just deleting your post outright.

Should We "Mind Our Language"?
@cocomac the Ubuntu CoC and SE's CoC and Expected Behavior line up together in terms of how you behave yourself. Essentially it's identical in how you need to behave, so being rude, vindictive, aggressive, etc. towards users is not permitted per the rules so.
