If you can edit their answer to include the comments, that'd be great. Comments are second class citizens here on Ask Ubuntu - they can (and are) deletable at any time, for almost any reason. … Someday I'll write a script to purge all comments from the year 2010 - nobody will miss 'em - I hope. ;) …

Yes, flag them all and have them destroyed, but only if the comment matches the answer.

Workaround: What I did when I saw that was flag the post with a comment saying "hey, please destroy all these comments they are obsolete". … To answer the "why" part, comments are really second class citizens - questions and answers are name of the game, so technically comments shouldn't exist at all. …
