Okay, I'm concerned about this. I just saw a question closed that involved GNOME Shell, which is software anyone can install, very easily, using Software Centre in vanilla Ubuntu. The question had absolutely nothing to do with the specific install media / defaults package (GNOME Remix). If the user had simply not mentioned it, the question would have (I hope…) happily stayed open.

Okay, say there's a really good question for Ubuntu 11.10, then duplicate questions for Ubuntu 12.04 start being linked to that older question. The difference isn't huge, but it's a little ugly: users of 12.04 are being pointed to a resource with old screenshots. Is it reasonable to change that older question so it's referring to 12.04 (and update the answer to have new screenshots), or should we have a new answer for 12.04?

It's possible that it can switch around in the future, by the way. We'll see what the forums do and where the design goes for the next cycle :) The gist of it, if you cut through the meat of my overly long post, is that the slideshow is specifically pointing people to a support system right now. The forum is a very different beast.
