Can a workaround count as an answer?
Totally agreed. Also, in this case "install this other driver" is not a workaround. It is a solution. A workaround would've been "install VirtualBox and print from Windows".

Gosh, yes absolutely. :) Yours is a perfectly fine solution.

Dark Theme Ask Ubuntu
This should be split into a "how do I get AU to look dark?" Q and a self-answer with the installation instructions. :) Nice job BTW.

Answering a question using an answer from another post
«It's not a true dupe, and other users are annoyed at this behavior.» This is kinda questionable. In basically all communities on SE (except the LaTeX one) questions with the exact same answer are considered duplicates.

Review audits should NOT include questions with bug reports
By solution you mean "open the package manager and click upgrade"?

@Serg indeed, and that's the point. To avoid any confusion, these kinds of post should not be used as test cases for audits.

Review audits should NOT include questions with bug reports
The fact that the bug was recently fixed doesn't mean that the bug report was on topic on AU. It should've been made on Launchpad. «it caught you not quite paying attention» Really? Reading the question, the answers and the comments is "not quite paying attention"? I'd be curious to know how you do reviews then.

Review audits should NOT include questions with bug reports
Instructing people to mark bug reports as "no action needed" defeats the purpose of the review system, which is that of assuring people review posts correctly. Bug reports are off-topic and should be marked as off-topic.

Is it useful/needed to include Wikipedia links for hardware information?
The links we are talking about here didn't contain any particularly relevant information.

Why are unanswered questions always getting upvotes but no answers?
«but no answers» It seems to me some users on this site think that everyone know the answer to everything and if no answer is given then it is weird. Actually, it would be awesome if we knew everything, but we don't.

What is it about some answers that attract upvotes?
I agree with all of you. I also encounter this problem and writing thorough and deep answers is becoming a bit unsatisfying.

Please don't just vote posts up because you feel sorry for them getting voted down
Alright I guess we are saying the same thing actually.

Ok but I mean: I sometimes vote to correct silly (or dare I say "idiotic") downvotes. :)

«I never ever heard of someone, voting to eliminate a downvote however.» I actually did it a few times when I saw a completely correct answer being downvoted for no reason, ranking it to -1. Of course, I wouldn't do that for a question which has quality issues or for a wrong answer.

Also, I didn't mention it explicitly in my question, but the edited post was very old... not a recent one.

«we can't reject or accept parts of an edit» Technically speaking, that's what "Improve edit" is for... you can keep only parts of the edit and revert the rest. :)
