@kitingChris Everyone starts from 1 rep, including me, so I have experienced what you experienced. The current rep system is not perfect but it certainly keeps out spam and low quality contributions.

@kitingChris I am surprised by your meta question given that you have been on Stack Overflow and TeX - LaTeX for 4 years and have a decent amount of rep there, and the rules for these 2 sites are largely similar to Ask Ubuntu's.

@Zanna Perhaps you want to introduce the extremely useful "Skip" button for editors who come across reasonable-looking code/command edits but lack the necessary knowledge/expertise to determine if the edits are technically sound.

I mean "users with no votes vs users with 1 to 10 type of data". We may want to not bin the data to see how it looks like first before binning them.
