Can somebody please explain how to post CODE in here?

I followed this thread http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1189729 but it doesn't work for me. I copy and paste a code from Terminal and paste it here in [code]test[/code] but it doesn't work don't know I used this [code][/code] in different forums it worked.

A few answers, you can take your pick from:

tldr For blocks of code, prepend the line with four spaces, for shorter blocks, wrap in `` (backticks).
