Everyone has (or so I hope) read the Help Center and the How to Ask and they put some guidance in what to do before, during and after asking a question. Now, there's a part that has been worrying me immensely and is this:
###Search, and research
Have you thoroughly searched for an answer before asking your question? Sharing your research helps everyone. Tell us what you found and why it didn’t meet your needs. This demonstrates that you’ve taken the time to try to help yourself, it saves us from reiterating obvious answers, and above all, it helps you get a more specific and relevant answer!
So, whenever I upvote a question (and I'm a very picky voter), I take into account several things, but mainly if it's an answerable question and if it's interesting topic. This seems 'OK' within the standards, now to downvote a question I take into account, is answerable (again!) and effort shown in the question (be it research or troubleshooting). But, when I see questions like this, where no matter how I put the terms, the part of the world I am, or the search engine, I always find this question in the firsts results, yet it has only one downvote.
So, moving on, what'sWhat's the expected research effort show by an answerasker in their question?
