This Privacy Notice provides a summary of how your personal data will be used when you use Stack Overflow for Teams. Stack Overflow’s Full Privacy Notice can be accessed via this link.

About Stack Overflow for Teams

Stack Exchange Inc (“Stack Overflow”, “we” or “us”) takes the privacy of users (“you”) seriously. This Privacy Notice explains who we are and how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your personal information when you use Stack Overflow for Teams (SO for Teams or the “Application”). It also explains your rights in relation to your personal information and how to contact us.

About Stack Overflow for Teams Jira Integration from Atlassian Marketplace

Stack Overflow has developed an Atlassian Marketplace app that integrates functionality from Stack Overflow for Teams with Jira Cloud (“Jira”). It facilitates collaboration across the platforms. The SO for Teams Jira integration (“Integration”) is hosted by Stack Overflow. Stack Overflow is usually the processor acting on behalf of a customer, but at times we are the controller, for personal information held within SO for Teams.

SO for Teams allows users to:

  1. Search SO for Teams in Jira: SO for Teams provides an interface that will run a query on keywords or title and return SO for Teams results directly in a ticket within Jira.
  2. Unfurl Jira links in SO Teams: When a user is inside SO for Teams, we will allow the user to embed Jira links and the Application will unfurl them inside an SO for Teams question or answer.

Who is the Controller?

Data controllers

When you choose to setup the Integration and use SO for Teams, for example, to Search, Unfurl or Copy, you may share your personal data with Jira. Some of this data may be held by us and Jira as independent data controllers and some of it may be held as joint data controllers. You should ensure that you read Atlassian’s Privacy Notice for more information on how any such personal data may be handled and how you can exercise your rights.

Stack Overflow is the controller for certain personal information that it holds about your organisation such as names and contact details of administrators, billing information, geo location, IP address and other information gathered from the App. Some of this data may be held by us as independent controller and some of it may be held as joint data controllers.

Your organisation (Customer), is the controller for any personal information processed within the App following the integration. As the controller, it is the Customer’s responsibility to comply with all relevant data protection laws and regulations, including but not limited to: informing any authorised users and teams within your organization about the collection and processing of their data in an appropriate privacy notice; having a lawful basis for collecting and processing data, including where required, obtaining necessary consent. Please review your organisation’s privacy policy for more information on how your personal data will be used and how you can exercise your rights.

Who is the Processor?

When you choose to complete the Jira integration with Stack Overflow for Teams, Stack Overflow acts as processor in connection with any personal information that it processes as part of the service it provides.
