I recently noticed that the tag .desktop (notice the dot before desktop) being used as a tag for questions concerning the Desktop Environment in general (most likely because desktop is gone):
- Ubuntu showing less ram than before after fresh install
- I restarted for a Ubuntu update and I now have a command line when it boots. How do I get back to my desktop?
- Desktop is not coming after update because of gnome-session fallback
- Find default desktop directory
This is only a small selection of questions misusing this tag, all taken from the first page of the question list for the .desktop tag.
I think renaming this tag, e.g. to .desktop-launcher or .desktop-file (or something better) could prevent or at least limit further misuse of the tag.
What do you think?
desktop-launcher
without the dot, maybe? Or dupe it to launcher?
